Selectmen Approve Liquor Licenses for Two 3rd Avenue Park Restaurants

The selectmen voted unanimously to approve the licenses.

The Burlington Board of Selectmen voted in favor of granting liquor licenses to two restaurants slated to be part of the 3rd Avenue, project during the meeting last night.

After some discussion in each public hearing, selectmen voted 4-0-0 (Selectman Ralph Patuto was absent from the meeting) to approve liquor licenses for Redstone American Grill and The Bancroft.

As reported on Burlington Patch, Redstone American Grill is a full-service, polished casual restaurant specializing in classic American food using fresh ingredients and visually appealing presentations.

The Bancroft is a high-end steak restaurant owned by the Webber Group. The Webber Restaurant Group owns the Gibbet Hill Grill in Groton, the Scarlet Oak Tavern in Hingham, and Fireside Catering in Burlington.

In each case, before granting the licenses, selectmen questioned the restaurant representatives about their bar areas. Selectmen, led by Selectman Daniel Grattan, wanted to ensure that the locations would only be restaurants and not bars.

In both instances it was explained that the bar areas were for patrons waiting to be seated or for patrons who prefer dining at a bar rather than the more formal restaurant seating. Both restaurant representatives agreed that their establishments would adhere to the Burlington bylaw that customers waiting to be seated would not be allowed more than two drinks without eating.
