The Boston Bruins will play their first the TD Garden in Boston.
The Boston Bruins will begin their truncated season on Jan. 19 against the New York Rangers at the TD Garden rink in Boston, according to the Boston Globe. The game, which will like begin at 7 p.m. marks the start of what will be a 48-game season after the National Hockey League Player's Association recently reached an agreement with league owners. On Jan. 6, the NHLPA reached an agreement with owners to end the 113-day lockout, according to the Globe. Where to watch in the Burlington area: There are a number of local places to catch the game. Hood Attended the April 9 Ceremony at The Sports Museum at TD Garden in Boston.
Brian Hood from Burlington was chosen as a 2012 Hobey Baker High School Character Award Recipient. Hood was a member of the Burlington High School boys varsity hockey team that on March 18 beat out Milton High to become the Division 1 Champions in a game at Boston’s TD Garden. Each year, local high school hockey players are honored with the Hobey Baker High School Character Award. Sponsored by Warrior Hockey and The Sports Museum and supported by high school coaches in Massachusetts, this award is presented to the boy or girl on each participating high school team that most exemplifies the values and traits of Hobey Baker himself: Character, Commitment, Teamwork, Persistence, Selflessness, Academic Excellence and Sportsmanship. Following the impressive win following a hard-fought game against Wakefield last Monday, the Burlington High School Boys Varsity Hockey Team are the Eastern Ma Division 1 North Champions. The Red Devils (17-1-6) will now head to the TD Bank North Garden in Boston to take on Eastern MA Division 1 South Champs Milton High (19-3-2). The puck drops on the big game at 8:15 p.m. this Sunday. We expect a big turnout of fans to head to the TD Garden to cheer on the team. Burlington is headed for a Garden party on Sunday, after they knocked off defending North champs Wakefield, 4-2, last night in Lowell.
LOWELL—During the regular season nothing could separate these two hockey teams. Wakefield High and Burlington played each other twice. The result was a pair of draws. They even split the Middlesex League Small School title. Last night at Tsongas Center, however, separation didn’t appear to be an issue for the speedy Red Devils, who jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two periods of hockey and never looked back. Burlington beat the defending champion Warriors and won the Division I North crown, 4-2, behind a spirited offensive performance and a solid night from netminder Derek DeCastro (28 saves).
