Wegman's Set to Break Ground in Burlington

The store is set to open in 2014.

The much-aniticipated Wegman's in Burlington's Northwest Park is set to begin the next stage of construction. According to bizjournal.com, the Rochester, N.Y. based company is set to break ground on Third Avenue on Oct. 16. As reported on Burlington Patch, in July Jo Natale, Director of Media Relations for Wegman's, the company expected the work on the parcel to be completed this September. At that point the company would be able to begin the second phase of site work with the expectation that construction on the new store will begin in the Spring of 2013. There is no date set for completion but Natale said the grand opening will be in 2014. Wegman's, which has signed a 30 year lease with options to renew, is planning to build a 135,000 …

Mount Hope Breaks Ground on Family Life Center

The groundbreaking took place on Sunday, Sept. 25.

After months of praying, planning, and preparation Mount Hope Christian Center broke ground for the new 9,000 square foot Family Life Center on Sunday, Sept. 25.  “Since 1985, Mount Hope has looked for ways to serve and be a blessing to the Burlington community," said Senior Pastor Rick Picariello in a release before the ceremony. School Committee Gets Steamed; Discusses 1:1 Technology Program

Spotlight on Education Honoree Richard Linder demonstrated Science Center’s new generator and steam engine

The May 24 School Committee meeting got off to a steamy start as Spotlight on Education honoree Richard Linder demonstrated the generator and steam engine that he recently completed for Burlington’s Science Center. Linder was introduced by K-8 Science Coordinator John Papadonis who lauded Linder for his many contributions to Burlington’s science programs over the years. ““When you have top quality mentors, you can do anything, stated Papadonis. “Dick Linder is one of the best mentors ever.” Papadonis went on to relate how the steam engine relates to the science curriculum.
