The following is a letter to the editor from the Burlington Education Foundation on the recent fundraiser circus at Burlington High: Thank you to all who came out and supported the Burlington Education Foundation at the circus. We had a fantastic time watching the Cirque Du Jour performers. The audience was entertained from start to finish by a daring acrobatic aerial act, jugglers, trampoline act, and many others. The dog show was a complete hit! Kids enjoyed playing carnival games and face painting before and after the shows. We would like to thank our sponsors, Edward Jones Investments and LTB Insurance. The Burlington Education Foundation is holding it's annual 5K Road Race to support education enrichment for Burlington schools this week. The BEF will hold its 8th annual 5K road race on Sunday, May 6, 2012 beginning at 9am. Register online at www.burlingtonedfoundation.org or on race day at the Burlington High School, 123 Cambridge Street, Burlington, MA 01803. All registered race participants receive a race T-shirt designed by BHS Senior Rachel Glynn. This race day is filled with hundreds of runners, walkers and spectators. The certified 5K (through the streets of Burlington) is preceded by a ½ mile Family Fun Run around Burlington High School. $20 pre-registration fee for the 5K ($25 on race day). $5 for the Family Fun Run. The folliwing is a release from the Burlington Education Foundation: The Burlington Education Foundation (BEF) is a non-profit organization committed to promoting community support for education excellence in the Burlington Public Schools. The BEF ‘s mission is to channel donations from businesses and individuals to provide Burlington educators with an additional source of funding for creative and innovative curriculum enrichment programs. The following is a release from the BHS Music Boosters Association: Burlington High School is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant by the Burlington Education Foundation (BEF) for use in establishing a permanent Theatrical Posters Exhibit. The BEF grant will provide funding for the reproduction, mounting, matting and framing of the posters which have been created by BHS graphic design students for the high school’s spring musicals spanning the last seven years. Through a coordinated effort each year between BHS art department chair George Ratkevich and musical artistic director and producer John Middleton-Cox, students are given practical experience to research and design the artwork to be used in all manners of publicity…

Hundreds of people came to the Burlington High School this weekend to see some circus action.
The Burlington High gymnasium was alive with the fun of the circus this past Saturday, much to the delight of the droves of spectators that came out to see the show and support education. The Burlington Education Foundation presented three shows of the Cirque Du Jour, a traveling performance. The show featured former Ringling Brothers comedy duo Bucky & GiGi , Chinese acrobat Li Liu, daredevil The Amazing Sladek, EAST BMX bike show and more. All proceeds from the performance benefited the BEF, which provides grant money to Burlington Public Schools to fund creative and innovative curriculum enrichment programs.
