UPDATED: Police: Major Power Lines Down in Front of High School

Burlington Police are reporting major power lines down in front of the high school and are asking people to seek alternate routes.

Update 3:10 p.m. Burlington Patch just checked out the scene. The traffic on Cambridge Street at Burlington High School is backed-up but is moving. The traffic coming from the Mall Road direction was more backed up than traffic coming from Central Street. Also, as of 2:30 p.m. the traffic lights at Bedford Street and Cambridge Street were off, causing traffic delays as motorists attempted to navigate the intersection. Update at 2:04 p.m. Police are reporting that NSTAR is on scene now to clear the downed lines. NSTAR is estimating 2 to 3 hours and have hired two detail officers, police stated. The Traffic Supervisor will be at the intersection to conduct traffic. The Police Department is also placing two additional officers to assist with …

BHS Alum Signed by the Boston/Providence Bruins

Jay Pandolfo, of Burlington, has been signed to the Bruins for one year.

A former Burlington High Schools student and hockey players has been signed with the Boston Bruins. Boston.com reported on Tuesday that Jay Pandolfo, of Burlington, was signed with the Bruins for a one year contract. The contract is a "two-way deal," meaning Pandolfo will be payed $600,000 while playing for the Boston Bruins and $350,000 if he plays with the seed team the Providence Bruins. According to his Wikipedia page, Pandolfo was born in Winchester and grew up in Burlington. He played for the BHS Red Devils and graduated in with the Class of 1992. He was also a member of the Burlington Hockey and Skating Association's Massachusetts 1998 state champion team for the Bantam age group. That team placed fifth in the US National tournament…

Patch to Live Blog Red Devils Football Playoff Game Against Beverly

Burlington High School's varsity football team is taking on Beverly in a Division II A playoff game at 7:45 p.m. tonight. The game is being held at Varsity Field at Burlington High. The Red Devils are going strong with a 10-1 season. Most recently they won the Thanksgiving Day game against Lexington 35-10. The Beverly Panthers are no slouches either.
