How Did Burlington Vote in the Massachusetts Primary?

A look at how Burlington voters decided to cast their votes yesterday.

Burlington residents, like all of Massachusetts, went to the polls to vote for their chosen party's representative yesterday in the state primary. A total of 1,908 Burlington voters went to the polls. That represents 13.3 percent of the total eligible voters. In Burlington 60.6 percent (1,158) of the voters cast votes in the Democratic races, 39.35 percent (752) cast votes for Republicans and 0.05 percent cast votes for the Green-Rainbow party. In the national senate election Burlington voters cast 843 votes for Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren and 710 for incumbent Scott Brown. Zenkin and Gordon to Square Off for 21st Middlesex District State Rep Seat

Kenneth Gordon beat out David Fionda and Virginia Mooney in the contested Democratic primary.

The section of the ballot on the Nov. 6 general election for the 21st Middlsex District State Representative seat has been set. Vice Chair of the Bedford Zoning Board and attorney Ken Gordon, D-Bedford, will face Burlington Selectman Walter Zenkin, R-Burlington, for the seat being left vacant by retiring Rep. Charles Murphy.  The 21 Middlesex District includes the towns of Burlington, Bedford and Precinct 3 of Wilmington. Gordon beat out fellow Democrats David Fionda, of Burlington, and Virginia Mooney, also of Burlington, in the Massachusetts State Primary yesterday. Low Voter Turnout in Burlington

The State Primary is not a big draw for Burlington voters.

Voter turnout in today's primary election is relatively low in Burlington. According to the numbers posted by Town Clerk Amy Warfield, as of 6 p.m. 1,539 votes had been cast at the polls. That is 10.1 percent of the 14,326 registered voters in Burlington. The polls are open until 8 p.m. this evening at Burlington High School. The most significant contested race in this area is among the Democratic candidates who are running to be on the ballot for the 21st Middlesex District State Representative seat being left vacant by outgoing Rep. All four candidates running to be on the ballot in the 21st Middlesex District State Rep seat are running sticker campaigns in the primary today.

The Massachusetts State Primary is today and Burlington residents have a couple of choices to make in contested races. Voting will be held at Burlington High School from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. The most significant contested race in this area is among the Democratic candidates who are running to be on the ballot for the 21st Middlesex District State Representative seat being left vacant by outgoing Rep. Charles Murphy. The 21 Middlesex District includes the towns of Burlington, Bedford and Precinct 3 of Wilmington.
