Vigil for Lung Cancer Awareness, Support Behing Held Tonight

The Vigil is being held at 7 p.m. at the Prudential Center in Boston.

Burlington resident Patrick Louis is on a mission of awareness and education, and is working to help other understand what he had to learn a long time ago. Lung cancer, often straddled with the public perception that it is a 'self-inflicted' disease, can strike anyone. Louis's mother passed away from lung cancer 17 years ago at the age of 57, though she never smoked. His mother-in-law also passed away from lung cancer at about the same time, and she had only smoked as a teenager. "Before my mother was diagnosed, there was really no symptoms," Louis said. "No shortness of breath, coughing or weight loss. All she had was some difficulty in mobility and when a subsequent analysis was done, there was a disease in her femure. The doctors did a …
