Burlington Town Offices Closed Today

Burlington public buildings are closed until Wednesday.

In observation of the Christmas holiday the Burlington public offices will be closed until Wednesday. Burlington Town Hall, the schools and the library are all closed today and tomorrow. While school is out all week the other offices will re-open on Wednesday. Most businesses, restaurants and stores are open today.

Town Employees Walking for Girl with Rare Bone Cancer

Employees at Town Hall will be walking in support of Eve, the three-year-old granddaughter of a colleague who has Erwin's Sarcoma.

Burlington Town Hall employees will be hitting the Town Commons next Monday for a 5K walk fundriaser walk in honor of the granddaughter of a colleague battling a serious disease. The girl, Eve, is 3 years old and has been diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. She is current undergoing chemotherapy as part of her treatment. To help raise money Town Hall employees are holding a raffle for gift baskets. Tickets can be purchased in the Tax Collector's office at Town Hall and during the walk. The walk will be held Monday, June 18, starting at 4:30 p.m. Come down and support the walkers and purchase a raffle ticket and help support this worthy cause.

Challenged Seats in the Burlington Town Election

There are currently four contested board and committee seats and seven contested Town Meeting seats for the April 14 Burlington Town Election.

The race for the April Burlington Town Election is underway and currently it looks like there will be four contested board and committee seats and seven contested Town Meeting seats. Today is the final day to pull papers to run for a town office and all papers, with signatures, are due back at the Town Clerk's office in Town Hall on Monday, Feb. 27. The town election will be held April 14 in the Burlington High School gym. So who are the candidates in contested races? For the Board of Selectmen there are two open seats and four candidates who have pulled papers. Incumbents Ralph Patuto and Daniel DiTucci are both running for re-election. Also entering the race are Michael Runyan and Virginia Mooney. Runyan ran last year and came in a close…
