Veterans Day Ceremony This Morning, Send Us Your Photos

Burlington will have a Veterans Day ceremony on the Town Commons at 9 a.m. this morning.

Burlington will honor past and current military personnel who have proudly served our nation in battle with a special Veterans Day ceremony this morning. The ceremony begins at 9 a.m. and will be held on the Town Commons. Burlington Patch is asking readers for help in covering this event. Burlington Honoring Veterans this Sunday

The town's annual Veterans Day program will be held at 9 a.m. on the Town Commons.

The following is a release from Burlington's Director of Veteran Affairs Robert Hogan: The Burlington Office of Veterans Services wishes to invite everyone to our 2012 Veterans Day program this Sunday, Nov. 11, at 9 a.m., on the Burlington Town Common. The theme this year is honoring and remembering Vietnam veterans, as this is the beginning year of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. In 1962 the first combat missions against the Vietcong occurred when in Operation Chopper, helicopters flown by US Army pilots began to ferry South Vietnamese troops to sweep the enemy’s stronghold near Saigon. Our guest speaker for the day will be Chaplain (Colonel) Bill Mark from the E.N. Rogers VA Hospital in Bedford. He was with us when the Moving …

Burlington's annual Truck Day is this Sunday form 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This will be the 15th annual day celebrating big rigs, municipal trucks, tractors and all big vehicles. The trucks will be on the Town Commons, as will Scouts selling food, b.good selling shakes to benefit the Burlington High Marching Band and People Helping People collecting food donation. Are you planning on attending? If so, we'd love to have your pictures for our galler we are planning on posting Monday morning. The big rigs, trucks and tractors will be on the commons for a day of fun.

Grab the kids and all truck enthusiasts and get ready to head to the Town Commons this Sunday. The date this year's of ever-popular Burlington Truck Day has been set for Sunday, Sept. 9. This will be the 15th annual day celebrating big rigs, municipal trucks, tractors and all big vehicles. The trucks will be on the Town Commons from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Last year hundreds of people of all ages came out for a fun day of looking at trucks, climbing on them and getting behind the controls for pictures. Truck Day Organizer, and our Unofficial Mayor, Al Fay said Truck Day began as a way to highlight the work and equipment of the Department of Public Works. It has since grown and now includes a wide variety of vehicles, including new and old fire …

Middle School Teen LIGHT Students Holding 5K for Good Cause

The MSMS group Teen LIGHT is holding a charity 5K run for Camp Sunshine, Christopher's Haven and the Dana-Farber Jimmy Fund at the town commons on June 2.

The following is a release from MSMS's group Teen LIGHT: Hundreds of 8th graders from the Marshall Simonds Middle School have made it their mission to help teens with serious illnesses such as cancer.  They will hold their fourth annual Teen LIGHT walk-a-thon on June 2.  The 5k run/walk will begin on the Burlington town common and include activities following the 5K.  The teens added the option to run the 5K this year to attract runners to the event.  Proceeds will benefit Camp Sunshine, Christopher’s Haven, and Dana-Farber Jimmy Fund. On-site registration will take place at 9:00 a.m. on the common.  The 5K will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. with activities on the common until 1:00 p.m.  The event will include entertainment, raffles, snacks, …

IMAGE GALLERY: Burlington Truck Day 2011 Draws Large Crowds

Children and adults alike enjoyed Truck Day on the Burlington Commons this past Sunday.

Hundreds of people came out to the Burlington Town Commons on Sunday to see the field filled with big rigs, fire engines, tractors, police cruisers and other large vehicles. It was the 14th Annual Municipal Truck Day in Burlington. People were invited to come to the commons to not only see the trucks, but to blow the horn, sit in the driver’s seat, and look the truck all over. Many took advantage and children and adults alike could be seen climbing into and onto the big rigs and checking out the giant tires and impressive engines of the large trucks.
