Christmas is right around the corner, but it's important to stop and remember just what we're thankful for on Thursday.
These days it often seems like time passes more and more quickly. Family life is hectic, parents and kids are busier than ever and, oftentimes, there just don’t seem to be enough hours in the day. Unfortunately, that sometimes means that we, as moms, don’t always make the time to enjoy the same traditions that we did when we were kids. Holidays come and go quickly and, sometimes, Thanksgiving seems to have become nothing more than the day before the “silly season” of Christmas shopping begins. Let’s face it, Christmas decorations seem to be going up earlier and earlier every year and, by the time Thanksgiving rolls around, we often seem to be so programmed into the upcoming holiday stress that we forget exactly what we should be giving …

The following is a letter to the editor from Burlington Town Clerk Amy Warfield: In this season of Giving Thanks, I want to take a moment to thank all of those who help who helped with Burlington having another successful Election. This was the first Presidential Election where we had 7 Precincts and the process went very smoothly thanks to the efforts of many. I’d like to especially thank the Burlington Police Dept., DPW Highway Dept., Recreation Maintenance, School Dept. and BHS custodians for their assistance in preparing the polls, grounds, and traffic control. Our Post Office was also a great help in assuring absentee ballots were efficiently delivered. I’d also like to thank the dedicated, enthusiastic, and competent poll …

Troopers from all over New England want to help local drivers stay safe and prevent crashes during the holiday season.
The holidays are upon us, and many residents will be traveling this week to see family and friends all across New England. State Police are doing their part to help ensure these visits don't end in tragedy because of impaired or distracted driving. The Massachusetts State Police joined forces with other New England State Police divisions at headquarters in Framingham to explain their C.A.R.E (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) program. Increased patrols this week will be cracking down on impaired/drunk driving, texting while driving and seatbelt law violations, among other things. "We aren't trying to discourage people from going out and enjoying themselves," Massachusetts State Police Col. Timothy P. Alben said. "We just want to make …

Food ideas for people whose Turkey Day involves no turkeys.
In one week, we'll be doing the Thanksgiving scramble: Running to the inlaws' house, hitting the store for some last minute cranberry sauce, or checking on the bird in the oven every five minutes.
