Is This Intersection Unnecessarily Dangerous?

A Burlington resident is raising concerns of the crossing walk between the Mall Road plaza and New England Executive Park.

A Burlington resident has been raising concerns about the safety of pedestrians crossing between New England Executive Park and the plaza across the street that houses b.good Burgers, Starbucks and Yeh! Frozen Yogurt among other businesses. The resident who has raised the issue asked not to be named in this story. The main concern is that the intersection does not have a set of pedestrian lights or anyway for people crossing the street to get a right of way to cross. There were buttons for a crossing light on the posts, which Town Engineer Thomas Hayes said were never connected to the traffic lights. The buttons have been removed since last week, a move Hayes said was to stop "confusion" among those attempting to cross.  The concerned …

They should really consider using a zebra crossing type of crosswalks in that area (or really, townwide). The parallel lines are okay, but the zebra stripes are much more visible and make drivers more aware of pedestrians.   more ›

Tavern in the Square Open for Dinner Today

The restaurant will be open for lunch starting next week.

The long-anticipated Tavern in the Square at 1 New England Executive Park is welcoming customers to come in for dinner starting tonight. According to the restaurant's web site (which features a Patch story), states that the Burlington Tavern in the Square will open at 4 p.m. today and will open for lunch, starting at 11 a.m., on August 6. As reported in our original article on the new Tavern in the Square, the restaurant intends to build a 5,000 square foot addition to the space as well as an outdoor patio seating area. In total, the restaurant will accommodate up to 300 guests and will include a small function room which will hold 30-50 guests.  The Tavern in the Square boasts an enormous menu with over 100 items and plenty of big screen …

On Saturday, Dec15, my family and friends went to the Tavernin the Square to celebrate my daughters birthday. Towards the end of our dinner, one of the guests discovered a dead mouse in his salad!!!!!! We were all sickened and disgusted and lost our appetites! Tavern In the Square Progressing, To Open Soon (Images)

The Tavern is currently hiring workers and training set to begin next week.

Work on the new Tavern in the Square set to open at 1 New England Executive Park is coming along nicely and a company manager said the doors will soon be open. As readers can see in the images above, work on the outside of the restaurant is nearly complete, the outdoor patio floor is set and the landscaping is underway. A new section of parking in front of the building is currently hardening. A restaurant manager who did not want to be named as a spokesman for the company told Patch this week that the company is set to begin training new employees next week and a "soft," or limited-hour, open is set for the week after. Yesterday marked a significant step for a new restaurant coming to town. Equity Office, one of the largest commercial property owners in New England, held a groundbreaking ceremony for Tavern in the Square yesterday at the New England Executive Park off of Mall Road. Tavern in the Square Coming to Burlington

New restaurant scheduled to open in spring 2012

Burlington may soon boast a new restaurant at the corner of Mall Road and New England Executive Park.  Tavern in the Square, a small, locally owned chain is planning to open its sixth restaurant, this one in Burlington, in the spring of 2012. The company has received a liquor license, according to Selectmen Daniel DiTucci. The plan was also approved by the Planning Board on Sept. 15. Selectmen Approve Liquor License for Tavern in the Square

The new restaurant will be at 1 New England Executive Park.

The Burlington Board of Selectmen approved a new alcohol license for JRS Restaurant, Inc., for a new Tavern in the Square during the Sept. 12 meeting.  Attorney Mark Vaughn of Reimer and Braunstein spoke on behalf of the restaurant owners, who are looking to set up shop at 1 New England Executive Park. He said the restaurant group is currently working with the Planning Board to meet all its requirements and was looking to secure a liquor license to keep the project moving forward.  Vaughn said the restaurant corporation currently has four locations in Salem, Allston and Cambridge and has a good record of alcohol law compliance.
