Report: John Kerry to Be Secretary of State Nominee

Kerry would replace outgoing Secretary of State Hilary Clinton.

  President Obama plans to nominate U.S. Senator John Kerry, D-MA, for Secretary of State, according to ABC News.  Kerry, if confirmed by the Senate, would replace outgoing Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, according to ABC News. Obama has reportedly made his decision but does not plan to announce it within the next few days because of sensitivities surrounding the mass shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Kerry became the front runner for the top diplomatic post in the wake of U.N. Susan Rice Out. John Kerry In?

Pres. Obama's candidate for Secretary of State has withdrawn her bid to be top diplomat. Does that mean Mass. Sen. John Kerry is next up for consideration?

  President Obama said today that U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice had withdrawn from consideration to be the next Secretary of State, saying conservative opposition would make her candidacy too "disruptive." With Rice out of the picture, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) is seen by many to be the frontrunner to replace current top diplomat Hillary Clinton. On Huffington Post and elsewhere, there has been speculation that the reason for such fierce opposition to Rice was to get Kerry into the Obama Administration and get back the U.S. Senate seat recently lost by Republican Sen.
