A look back at the week that was in Burlington High School athletics.

Burlington, MA - Well we’ve finally reached the end of the 2011 spring high school season as some of the Burlington High School spring teams have finished off their seasons while others continue their quest for state titles. Some of the spring teams closed out successful seasons while others turned the page and look towards improvement in 2012. Let’s take a look back at some of the results from this past week and check in on some of the teams that are still competing. Softball It’s definitely been an amazing season for the Burlington High School softball team, as they cruised through the regular season only losing twice and running away with the Middlesex League championship. A look back at the week that was in Burlington High School athletics.

 It’s been a long 2011-spring high school season, as the teams have had to battle what seemed like endless bad weather just to get their games in. As the regular season for most of the teams comes to an end this week, some of the teams prepare to compete in the MIAA state tournament while others take the time to celebrate their seniors and say their goodbyes. Let’s take a look back at some of the results from this past week. Baseball It was a strong week for the Burlington High School baseball team as they looked to gain some momentum going into the MIAA state tournament. They dropped a close game to state powerhouse Lexington on Monday, 5-1, in a game that saw the Red Devils play the Minutemen to a tie through four innings. They bounced …

Burlington Girls Lax Falls to Belmont 20-11

Hollis Hansburger, Izzy Goldstein and Melissa Hebelow all scored five goals for the Marauders in the win.

Burlington was able to score some goals on Saturday morning, but unfortunately could not stop Belmont from scoring as they lost 20-11. Belmont had three different players score five goals, as they were able to put together a dominant offensive performance. Hollis Hunsburger, Izzy Goldstein and Melissa Hebelow all put the ball in the net five times on route to the victory. The Red Devils took the early lead when Rachel Joyce and Megan Packer each scored in the early minutes of the game. Belmont answered back with goals from Caroline McCarthy and Hunsburger to tie the game. Burlington quickly took the lead back when Jean Hanafin scored her first goal of the game. Belmont answered right back with a goal from Hebelow. Burlington took a 4-3 …

Around the Burlington High School Sports World

A look back at the week that was in Burlington High athletics.

Well we have officially entered the second half of the 2011 spring high school season, and many of the Burlington High School squads are vying for the right to play in the post-season. While some have already qualified for a post-season birth, others have some work to do still. Let’s take a look back at some of the results from this past week. Tennis Both the boys’ and girls’ tennis teams have experienced extremely successful seasons for Burlington High School in 2011. Both squads were able to continue their winning ways this past week, as well, as each squared off with Belmont and Woburn. The boys’ were at Belmont Monday afternoon to take on a Marauder team that has been trying to make a name for themselves in the Middlesex League tennis …
