How are the roads in Burlington? Did you have any trouble getting to school or work today?

A rain/snow mix has slowed some morning commutes through Burlington today, with traffic still a problem for many out on the roads.  As indicated in our Patch traffic map, there are still roads in Burlington with slow traffic due to last night's snow fall. There was also a report of an accident on Center Street this morning that caused a traffic backup in that area. According to the National Weather Service we can expect rain and snow showers through 2 p.m. with new daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible. How are the roads? Did you encounter any issues on your way to work/school this morning? Tell us in the comments below. Do you have photos from the snow? Snowy Mix Expected to Impact Wednesday Morning Commute

The potential for accumulation is light, but the times it's expected could cause some headaches.

Just when you'd gotten used to 60-degree days, Old Man Winter reappears. Plan some extra time into your Wednesday morning commute as forecasters at WHDH are calling for a light snowy, rainy mix to begin falling at about 4 a.m. and continue throughout the day. According to Jeremy Reiner on the WHDH weather blog, this isn't expected to be a major storm, nor is he calling for the snow to fly faster than the plows can handle it. "It won't be a big, bad storm that gets a name or anything like that but it will create some issues for us," Reiner writes. WHDH's snow accumulation map shows areas around I-95 could see anywhere from 1-4 inches. The closer you get to the coast, the less snow is expected, with mostly rain expected within 2 miles of …

Three-Storm Punch in Store for Area Next Week?

Towns north of I-90 may see plowable snow Monday.

This much seems certain ... we will see snow next week. But how much and how often is still the big question. According to WHDH meteorologist Jeremy Reiner, the weather pattern for the area will start to become active not just for next week, but for possibly the next three weeks. "The pattern becomes active and a number of storms will take a swipe at us for the next 2-3 weeks," according to his blog on WHDH. "They won't all be snow or rain, likely a mix of both and the first one on the docket looks to be just that." In regards to next week, Reiner says light snow is expected Sunday and may change over to sprinkles Sunday night. Monday will see the light mix of precipitation become steadier & heavier by afternoon & evening. The coast can …

Stormy Pattern, and Possibly Snow, Predicted for Next Week

Strong coastal storm may affect region between Monday and Wednesday.

For those of you dreaming of a white Christmas, this forecast is what you've been waiting for. According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance for accumulating snow next week as a coastal storm develops between Monday and Wednesday. An active weather pattern is expected to begin Sunday and continue through the middle of next week. There's a possibility of snow and/or ice, with significant amounts if temperatures remain cold enough. The NWS is currently predicting a 50 percent chance of rain and snow Monday night and Tuesday. Timing of the storm is still uncertain, as is the type of precipitation and any potential hazards.

Nor'easter May Affect Wednesday Commute

Expect mostly rain the area and snow outside of 495.

A nor'easter will kick up winds and rain in the region today, with sleet and snow likely west of Boston and in the higher elevations. According to WHDH meteorologist Chris Lambert, the precipitation should start between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., which would impact the afternoon commute. Atmospheric conditions may convert falling rain into snow in the area, though that would mean merely a dusting on grass before quickly melting away. The actual rain/snow line is harder to predict. "I don't expect much, if any accumulation in the Boston area, maybe a slushy coating around Rte. 128 on grassy surfaces as rain and snow battle it out for a few hours in the early evening," wrote Lambert on the 7 Weather Blog. "The snow will lose that battle to rain, …

Midweek Storm to Bring Strong Winds, Possible Snow

Massachusetts is bracing for more adverse weather.

Massachusetts and the Northeast is in store for more weather this week as a nor'easter heads our way Wednesday and into Thursday morning. The National Weather Service is predicting strong winds around 22 mph with gusts up to 58 mph. Additionally, the storm will be bringing chilly temperatures and rain – possibly even 1 to 2 inches of snow. The nor'easter is expected to hit the Northeast from Cape Cod down to New York City, which was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy last week. This incoming storm's winds are expecting to be even more damaging as many trees, limbs and structures have already been weakened by last week's superstorm. NSTAR stated in a release yesterday that is prepared for the storm: As the region braces for tomorrow’s nor’easter, …
