Burlington Awarded $1 Million Grant for Road Improvements

The grant will fund work on Middlesex Turnpike to help mitigate the traffic that will be created by the relocation of the Keurig headquarters to town.

Burlington has been awarded a $1 million grant from the state for roadwork improvements on Middlesex Turnpike. According to a release from Gov. Deval Patrick's office, the MassWorks grant will be used to support roadway improvements to Middlesex Turnpike, Second Avenue and South Avenue to support the consolidation of Keurig Company’s current Massachusetts workforce to its new site. According to the Patrick-Murray Administration a total of $38 million for 26 new MassWorks Infrastructure Program grants were announced to support economic development and housing creation throughout the Commonwealth. Work on Mall Road to be Completed by Holiday Shopping Season

There are currently three projects at the Mall Road and South Bedford Street intersection.

Commuters in Burlington have likely noticed a new delay in the flow of traffic. Those attempting to travel down Mall Road in the direction of Cambridge Street are hitting roadwork at the South Bedford Street intersection. The area is normally backed up even without ongoing work and especially so during the holiday shopping season. So, a reasonable question would be, 'how long until this is all cleared up"? Department of Public Works Superintendent John Sanchez told Patch the work being done is actually three separate projects. One is a gas pipe being done by a utility company. The town also has two projects in the area, one to set a sewer line going across mall road and the second is a showcase project for a beautification initiative on …

Sandy Brook Road Closed to Through Traffic

A notice from Town Engineer Thomas Hayes.

A notice to anyone who normally drives down Sandy Brook Road or was planning to head down there. According to Burlington Town Engineer Thomas Hayes, due to current roadwork, Sandy Brook Road will be closed to through traffic between Pine Ridge Road and Terrace Hall Ave. Detours are in place via Hilltop Drive until further notice.  School busses will not have through access while the road is closed. Burlington Patch will forward any updates from the Mr. Hayes as they become available.
