The following is a release sent from the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce by John Sanchez, Burlington Superintendent of Public Works: John Sanchez, Superintendent of Public Works, asked the Chamber to inform the membership of the following Traffic Advisory due to work being done related to the installation of the sewer force main from Terrace Hall to South Bedford Street. Traffic patterns through the construction zone on Burlington Mall Road between Stony Brook Road and South Bedford Street will change slightly. The current traffic zone will be used; the eastbound lane between South Bedford Street and Stony Brook Road will be closed and the westbound lane will be split to allow 2-way traffic. A portion of the turnpike on the Burlington and Bedford line will be restricted and detours will be set up starting next Monday morning.
There will be some big changes to the traffic-flow on Middlesex Turnpike on the Burlington and Bedford line starting next week. According to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (DOT), starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 23 and continuing thereafter, the section of Middlesex Turnpike from Plank Street in Bedford to Route 62 (Bedford Street) in Burlington will be restricted to southbound travel to allow work crews to complete roadway reconstruction operations. South in this case means the turnpike will be one-way for people coming into Burlington and drivers leaving town will be diverted.
