Patch Snap: Oracles Presents Burlington PD With Donation for Road Safety

Today's Patch Snap comes from the Burlington Police Department, which states: The Burlington Police Department recently received a donation from Oracle located at 10 Van de-Graaff Drive in Burlington.  Building site manager Kathy Juliano representing Oracle USA Community Partners Corporate Citizenship Organization presented Chief Michael R. Kent with a check totaling $10,400. A portion of funds will be used to purchase 3 ”state of the art” radar units which will be used enforce posted speed limits and help reduce vehicle crashes on Burlington roadways.      Also to be funded with this donation …

Patch Snap: BHS Electronic Recycling Day a Big Success

Have electronic waste to recycle but missed the drop-off day? You can still have them recycled in Wilmington.

Today's Patch Snap comes from April Healey and is on the Burlington High School's Students for Environmental Action (SEA) Club's electronic waste collection day on Jan. 5. Healey explained: The Burlington High School's Students for Environmental Action (SEA) Club recently held an Electronics Recycling Day at Burlington High, and it was a big success.  The students organized the event and collected enough old printers, cell phones, monitors, computers, stereos and game systems to fill a 12 foot truck!    The items will be recycled by Wilmington Computer Recycling of Wilmington, and will help to …

Patch Snap: BHS Interact Club Collected Socks for Veterans

Today's Patch Snap feature's the Burlington High School Interact Club and comes from Janet Sullivan who participates in the group. Today's Patch Snap comes from Reagan Communications, which states: Howie Carr and WRKO broadcasted live from The Kowloon Restaurant in Saugus on Thursday, Dec. 20. From 3 to 7 p.m. Howie Carr hosted a live broadcast, and gave 20 pre-determined qualifiers the chance to Win Howie's Holiday Cadillac during Happy Howie Days. Each of the qualifiers won a gift basket from Len Libby Candies and a gift certificate to The Kowloon Restaurant. Patch Snap: 'The Knit Wits' Make Gift Bags for Nursing Home Residents

Today's Patch Snap comes from Council on Aging Director Marge McDonald, who states: "The ladies who call themselves 'The Knit Wits' put together gift bags for Burlington residents who will be spending the holidays in a nursing home.   Inside the bags are lap robes or small afghans knitted or crocheted by the ladies (as well as some others who donate) as well as some toiletries and a stuffed animal donated by the Salvation Army.   The numbers given out each year has gone down considerably with better home care services which allow seniors to stay in their own homes much longer." Today's Patch Snap comes from Janet Sullivan Fitzgerald of People Helping People, who states: "Mrs. Lynch’s Third Grade Class at Pine Glen did a food and penny drive during the month of December.  They collected $60 for People Helping People.    Matthew Cameron, who is in this class, collected $30 on his own by standing in his driveway and asking his neighbors for financial donations for the Food Pantry! Today's Patch Snap comes from People Helping People, which states: Gayle Hobgood, Director of the Burlington Community Food Pantry would like to thank Slak Chiropractic Group in Burlington for their generous donation to People Helping People.  They had a fundraiser for PHP during this past fall. The group has a mural of a tree on the wall of their office.  They offered their clients an opportunity to purchase a leaf to hang on the tree with proceeds going to People Helping People.   Pictured left to right is Kristen DeLuca, Dr. Jean-Marc Slack, Dr. Linda Slak and Linda Vanderburgh.

Patch Snap: BHS Interact Club Collecting Socks for Veterans

Patch Snap is an occasional post that features pictures from around Burlington or Burlington residents out and about.

Welcome to another edition of Patch Snap, where we highlight a picture or pictures of around Burlington or of Burlington residents out and about. Today's Patch Snap feature's the Burlington High School Interact Club and comes from Janet Sullivan who participates in the group. According to Sullivan the Burlington Rotary High School Interact Club kicked off their Fall Sock Drive for Veterans.  During the months of October and November the students will be collecting white heavy socks for the Veterans at the Bedford V.A.  The club’s goal is to collect over 500 pairs of socks.  Director of Veterans Services and Burlington Selectman Bob Hogan talked to the students about the importance of giving and the strong need for the socks.  Pictured left…
