Thanks to a Wednesday win, the Burlington High School Girls Softball team is one win from being the the North Division 2 champs. The No. 3 Red Devils dominated play from start to finish in the North Division 2 semifinal game, scoring two runs in the opening inning and never looking back as they cruised to an 8-2 win over Amesbury on Wednesday in Lowell. We'll be live blogging the game championship game against Tewksbury on Saturday starting at 3:45 p.m., bringing you the latest updates from Martin Field in Lowell. The winner of that contest will be crowned North Division 2 champion and will earn a spot in the state bracket. Check back Saturday for our live blog coverage.

Burlington High School's varsity football team is taking on Beverly in a Division II A playoff game at 7:45 p.m. tonight. The game is being held at Varsity Field at Burlington High. The Red Devils are going strong with a 10-1 season. Most recently they won the Thanksgiving Day game against Lexington 35-10. The Beverly Panthers are no slouches either. Burlington Patch will feature a live discussion with Scott Weiss of the Gutierrez Company, the developer behind the proposed Target plan at the Canyon Site, this Thursday at 6 p.m.
The proposed Target/Canyon Site plan put forward by the Gutierrez Company is one of the hottest issues in town right now. The next step for the proposal is a zoning change that will be before Town Meeting on May 14. In a recent vote the Burlington Planning Board voted 4-3 to recommend the warrant article be passed. Following the impressive win following a hard-fought game against Wakefield last Monday, the Burlington High School Boys Varsity Hockey Team are the Eastern Ma Division 1 North Champions. The Red Devils (17-1-6) will now head to the TD Bank North Garden in Boston to take on Eastern MA Division 1 South Champs Milton High (19-3-2). The puck drops on the big game at 8:15 p.m. this Sunday. We expect a big turnout of fans to head to the TD Garden to cheer on the team.
