A look back at images from Burlington High School sports covered by Patch

Now that school is out for the year we at Burlington Patch decided to highlight the Burlington High School's year in sports. We launched the site in November of last year and have been covering the great high school teams ever since. Here are some of the images we were able to capture during this year's seasons. Enjoy the pictures as we wait for next September and a year of sports.

Burlington Hockey Falls 5-2 to St. Mary's in Playoffs

Dan McMahon and Brian Hood scored early goals but it was not enough to hold St. Mary's.

After racing out to a two goal lead, the Burlington hockey team could not hold on to the lead, ultimately falling 5-2 against St. Mary’s of Lynn on Saturday afternoon.  The game got out to a good start when Dan McMahon scored just 2:03 into the game on the power-play.  He backhanded the puck over the St. Mary’s goalies shoulder after circling around from the back of the net.  Captain Chris Irwin and sophomore RJ Caruso picked up assists on the goal.  The goal would standup and Burlington took a 1-0 into the first intermission.  Burlington got on the board first in the second period when Brian Hood scored.  Burlington put a lot of traffic in front of the net and the puck squirted out to Hood who shot the puck past the goalie for the 2-0 …

If you were watching the game Burlington controlled the play in the first period. They controlled the play in the second and third with multiple shots on net. They lost to a team that captured the momentum and no one denies that they won. so what is your issue with the shot total? It's high school hockey and a young team at that- who started 4 sophomore and a freshman. I was proud of the games …   more ›
