New and Old Songs at Winter Concert

Burlington High School's band and chorus are preparing for Thursday's performance

The Burlington High School Band has had a busy year. So busy, in fact, that they only recently started practicing for Thursday's Winter Concert. With football games performances, a Halloween parade and their annual trip to the Salem invitational, the band couldn't begin learning the new music until just after Thanksgiving. Still, they're eager to pull it off and confident about the results. The winter concert has long been an annual performance and highlights the talents of the high school select chorus, chorus, band and jazz band. After a fall of football games and choreographed marches, it's a "shift from what we've been doing", said Band Director Matt Lovell. "It's tough music, especially under the gun like this," he added.
