A Westwood teen allegedly fled police in a stolen motor vehicle from South Boston to Burlington before crashing into a Jersey barrier last night. According to the Massachusetts State Police at approximately 9:30 p.m. last night troopers from the Massachusetts State Police received a report from the Boston police of a stolen motor vehicle that had fled a traffic stop on L Street in South Boston. Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police barracks in Boston located the stolen vehicle on William Day Boulevard and attempted to stop the vehicle. Original Story A motorist led police on a high speed chase from Boston to Burlington that ended when the stolen SUV he was driving hit a wall, 7News/WHDH is reporting. According to the story, a 19-year-old man driving a stolen vehicle was pulled over in South Boston late Sunday night. The driver fled the scene in the vehicle and state troopers were called to assist in the pursuit, which led down Route 128. During the chase the man reportedly hit at least three police cruisers. Burlington resident Edgardo Rodrigeuz was arraigned Thursday following a high-speed pursuit Wednesday night. A police report reveals more details.
A Burlington man was arraigned in Lawrence District Court today after police arrested him during a high-speed chase on Interstate 93 last night. Edgardo Rodriguez, 31, of 3 Arthurwood Ave., Burlington, was eventually found by an infrared camera on a helicopter after he decided to flee on foot. He has been charged with failing to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding in violation of a special regulation and a marked lanes violation. He also had two warrants. Rodriguez was not released following his arraignment Thursday. Court officials say that he will most likely be transported to the Middleton Correctional Facility. A March 10 pretrial date was set.
