Middlesex Sheriff Employee Charged With Fraud

See what one Middlesex Sheriff worker did while she was out on sick leave.

  A Middlesex County Sheriff's Office employee is facing criminal fraud chagres for allegedly working another job while she remained on medical leave from the sheriff's office. Joyce Drinkwater, 67, of Malden was charged on Nov. 19 with knowingly presenting a fraudulent claim to a public employer for a benefit, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office. The sheriff's jurisdiction includes Burlington, among other communities.  Drinkwater is scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 13 at Malden District Court. Drinkwater allegedly collected her full salary as she stayed on medical leave from the sheriff's office, according to the DA's office. Burlington Bus Driver in Court for Accusation of False Reprt

Nancy Parker of Burlington will appear in court on charges of compensation fraud, misleading an investigator, and filing a false report.

A Burlington woman and former MBTA bus driver appeared in court last week to face charges of making a false accusation in relation to a 2007 incident.  According to the Boston Globe, Nancy Parker, 53, of Burlington, was arraigned for allegedly fraudulently collected more than $7,750 in workers compensation after claiming she was shot while on the job in 2007. "Parker is charged with worker's compensation fraud, misleading an investigator, and filing a false report. A clerk magistrate ordered her released without bail, and to return for a pretrial hearing Feb. 28," the Globe reported. Tierney's Wife Sentenced to 30 Days in Jail

Despite a plea bargain that didn't include jail time, Patrice Tierney was sentenced to 30 days in jail for her role in her brother's tax fraud.

Congressman John Tierney's wife will head to jail for a month for her role in her brother's tax fraud related to an illegal gambling operation. On Thursday, Federal Judge William Young sentenced Patrice Tierney to serve 30 days in jail — beginning Feb. 28 — followed by five months of house arrest and two years of probation. This is more than prosecutors had requested. In the original plea agreement, a deal was reached in which Tierney would serve 90 days on house arrest and two years of probation. But Thursday, Judge Young insisted on having her serve jail time, as an example and deterrent to others. “While I am surprised and disappointed today with Judge Young’s ruling, as it is not in line with the U.S. Attorney’s recommendation, I take …
