Guests could purchase a lunch from 11:30 a.m. 1:30 p.m. for just $5 with proceeds going to People Helping People. Potbelly raised $701 for PHP. The Burlington Community Food Pantry is looking for some specific roles to fill that will not take up much of your time! Delivery Person – Delivery groceries to pantry clients at their homes. Volunteers with People Helping People will be collecting non-perishable food stuffs and basic items during the town election on April 14 at the High School.
The following is a release from People Helping People, Inc.: People Helping People will be holding a drive to support The Burlington Community Food Pantry at the Town Election on Saturday, April 14 at Burlington High School. Specific needs this year are Toothbrushes, Canned Fruit, Canned Vegetables and Peanut Butter. Members of People Helping People will be on hand all day to collect these items. Financial Donations are always welcome as well. The Burlington Community Food Pantry supports an average of 300 people each month. Over 100,000 pounds of food are distributed annually through the Pantry. Please don’t forget to vote on the 14th and bring a donation to help those in need. It's not clear if last week's early winter snow storm was a sign of things to come this winter in Burlington, but one thing's for sure - regardless of the impending winter climate, there are still families in need in and around town. The following is a release from People Helping People, Inc., and the Burlington Food Pantry: People Helping People would like to thank the Burlington Post Office for once again for coordinating the [Stamp Out Hunger] Food Drive that was held on Saturday, May 14. Additionally we would like to thank TD Banknorth Burlington, Mind, Body & Soul from the Burlington Mall, Best Buy as well as the many other volunteers from the local churches that included both young adults and adults. Thank you to Sonny from St. Margaret’s for the donation of the hall and all he does for this event each year. Mail carriers to pick up donations as they make their rounds. This year, the need for nonperishable foods is greater than ever, says organizing group.
Since 1993, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) has collected more than 1 billion pounds of food through its annual event, Stamp Out Hunger, the largest single-day food drive in the U.S. On Saturday, more than 1,500 NALC branches from every state will have letter carriers collect nonperishable goods from people’s mailboxes, according to a press release. Residents are asked to leave a sturdy bag or box containing nonperishable foods such as canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal next to their mailbox prior to the time of regular mail delivery on Saturday.
