Patch Snap: Burlington 3rd Graders Collect Funds for People Helping People

Help a child in need have a happy holiday by donating a gift.

Welcome to another edition of Patch Snap, where we highlight a picture or pictures of around Burlington or of Burlington residents out and about. Today's Patch Snap comes from Janet Sullivan Fitzgerald of People Helping People, who states: "Mrs. Lynch’s Third Grade Class at Pine Glen did a food and penny drive during the month of December.  They collected $60 for People Helping People.    Matthew Cameron, who is in this class, collected $30 on his own by standing in his driveway and asking his neighbors for financial donations for the Food Pantry! Grand View Farm Advisory Committee Presents $25k Gift

The funds will be used to hire a landscaping engineer to finish the planning of the final stage of the renovation project.

The Grand View Farm renovation project got a big boost at last night's Board of Selectmen meeting. Many members of the Grand View Farm Advisory Committee were in attendance, with a large check in hand, to present the town with a $25,000 donation to go towards the fourth phase of the project. Committee member Nick Rubino, who spoke for the group, said the members were happy with the progress that has been made thus far, and that they are all eager to see the finished result. "We have worked long and hard for over 10 years to raise funds and awareness of this important project and to keep it moving forward," Rubino said. "Now we can see the finish line." Police to Purchase Mobile Command Center with Oracle Donation

The funds from Oracle will also be used for anti-texting while driving initiatives with Burlington High School.

The following is a release from the Burlington Police Department: The Burlington Police Department recently received a donation from Oracle, located at 10 Van de-Graff Drive. Building site manager Kathy Juliano representing Oracle USA Community Partners Corporate Citizen Organization presented Chief Michael Kent with a check totaling $10,400. A portion of the funds will be used to purchase a Mobile Command Center. This command center, referred to as a vault, will be used to hold weapons, maps and radio equipment that is needed in a major critical incident. Letter to the Editor: Thank You Marshall Simonds Middle School from People Helping People

A letter to the editor from People Helping People to Burlington's middle school students.

The following is a letter to the editor: The Board of Directors of People Helping People and Gayle Hobgood, Director of the Burlington Community Food Pantry would like to thank the students and faculty of Marshall Simonds Middle School for their generous donation.  During the month of December the students participated in “Small Change Big Change” for People Helping People.  Between the loose change the students donated and some generous donations from the faculty PHP received a check for over $4,000 from MSMS.     Pictured here are the Student Council Members for MSMS as well as left to right – Gayle Hobgood, Director of the Burlington Community Food Pantry, Janet Fitzgerald President PHP and MSMS Teacher Neil Lucas.

Release: Thanks Oracle for Donation to BPD

A release from the Burlington Police Department

The following is a press release from the Burlington Police Department Recently, Kathy Juliano from Oracle presented a $5,000 check to Chief Michael Kent. Oracle is continuing their partnership with the Burlington Police Department to benefit the residents of Burlington in the area of public safety. The money that was donated by Oracle will go towards Community Outreach projects in the town of Burlington. Donations in the past from Oracle have helped fund the RAD program, and to purchase equipment for the Traffic Safety division and assist with the K-9 program.
