Burlington Man Running To Support Cancer Research

Jon Freedman of Burlington will be running in the 40th annual Falmouth Road Race for Dana-Farber in memory of David Lanzoni.

A Burlington man will be running a seven-mile road race to help raise money for cancer this weekend. On August 12, Jon Freedman of Burlington will be running in the 40th annual Falmouth Road Race in Falmouth, Mass., to help conquer cancer as a member of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s team.  Freedman, along with approximately 100 Dana-Farber teammates from New England and beyond, will run the seven-mile race with a goal to raise $370,000 for cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The Dana-Farber team celebrates its 10th year of participation in the Falmouth Road Race official charity program in 2012. Teen LIGHT and Flatbread Unite to Help Teens

Pizza Party at Flatbread from 5:30 to 9 p.m. tomorrow night.

The following is a release from MSMS's student group Teen LIGHT: Hundreds of 8th graders from the Marshall Simonds Middle School have made it their mission to help teens with serious illnesses such as cancer.  The students of Teen LIGHT will host a charity night at Flatbread restaurant on Tuesday, May 15.  Proceeds will benefit Camp Sunshine, Christopher’s Haven, and Dana-Farber Jimmy Fund. The “pizza party” will be from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Flatbread restaurant.  The restaurant is on 213 Burlington Road in Bedford across from Mitre field.  Flatbread will donate $1.75 for each small pizza sold and $3.50 for each large pizza.  Pizza sales include dine-in, take-out, and a new drive-up option.  The evening will include a 50 – 50 raffle, T…

Burlington Residents Ride to Help Donate $35 million to Dana-Farber

Two Burlington residents raised just over $11,000 in this year's Pan-Massachusetts Challenge for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.

The following is a press release: Two Burlington residents raised just over $11,000 of the $35 million donated by the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC) to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. They were among 5,169 cyclists who rode up to 190 miles across Massachusetts to raise money for cancer research and treatment. The 2011 fundraising total is $2 million, or 5.7 percent, more than the PMC gave in 2010 and brings its 32-year Jimmy Fund contribution to $338 million. The PMC is the most successful athletic fundraising event in the nation; it raises and contributes more money to charity than any other. In August, cyclists from eight countries and 37 states rode one of 11 routes that ranged from 25 to 190 miles. Riders …
