Updated: Burlington Storm Center: Cancellations and Closings

Burlington Public Schools have postponed all afternoon activities and the Burlington Public Library will close at 3 p.m. today.

It's only been a week since the last storm and the snow is falling again, prompting closings and cancellation in Burlington.  The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued winter storm warning that will be in effect until 7 p.m. this evening. The NWS is predicting three to six inches of snow will accumulate throughout the day, with the northern part of the state receiving the heaviest snowfalls. In response to the weather, some cancellations and postponements have been made. That is the list thus far. If anything else comes in, we will be updating continuously so check back in. The Latest on the Storm, Cancellations and How to Stay Safe

The snow is still falling and the National Weather Service predicts the Burlington area may get up to two feet before it stops. Here is the latest on the storm, cancellations and tips from Fire Chief Yetman on how to stay safe.

So far over a foot of snow has fallen in the Burlington, leading to many cancellations but, according to the fire department, few problems thus far. However, it looks like the snow is going to continue to fall, so safety is still a concern.  According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm warning will remain in effect until 8 p.m. tonight. In that time the service is predicting that snow will continue to fall at a rate of 2 to 3 inches per hour and total accumulation could approach two feet. Throughout the afternoon the wind will continue to blow at a strong 15 to 25 miles per hour with occasional gusts up to 45 miles per hour. Updated: Burlington to be Hit by 12 to 16 Inches of Snow, Many Cancellations

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning starting at midnight. In preparation, schools have closed.

The predictions on how much snow is going to hit the Burlington area tonight just keeps on rising. As of today, the National Weather Service is projecting that up to 12 to 16 inches could fall before the storm ends Wednesday. The National Weather Service has also issued a winter storm warning in effect from midnight tonight until 7 p.m. Wednesday. The warning states that snow will start by midnight in the southwestern part of the state and spread throughout the night. The heaviest snow will fall late in the night through the Wednesday morning. Snowfall rates may reach 2 to 3 inches per hour. Winds will be north to northeast and will have a rate of 10 to 20 miles per hour and there may be occasional gusts up to 35 miles per hour, according …
