Burlington celebrated Independence Day with a great parade and fun events on the Town Commons.
Morning showers weren't enough to keep Burlington residents from coming out to celebrate freedom during the town's Fourth of July Celebration. The day's events were organized by the Burlington Breakfast Rotary Club and featured a morning parade followed by fun activities on the Town Commons. The featured unit was the world championship "Stuart Highlanders Pipe Band" which placed first in international competition earlier this year in Switzerland. A new attraction will be "The Mad Bavarian Band" from Lebanon, NH. They ever-popular "Hurdy Gurdy Man" Jim Bryant came down all the way from Wayne, Maine. We can expect some morning showers and possible thunderstorms.
Tomorrow is Independence Day and Burlington has a parade set to begin at 10:30 a.m. with fun events to follow on the Town Commons. So how is Mother Nature going to behave tomorrow? What kind of weather can we expect? According to the National Weather Service we can expect a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning, mainly after 7 a.m. However, the chance of precipitation is only about 40 percent and new rainfall amounts are expected, at most, to be less than a tenth of an inch. If thunderstorms do happen, we could get some more rain however. Otherwise the day will be partly sunny with a high temperature near 82 degrees. Tomorrow night we can expect a 30-percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11 p.m. Otherwise…

Green Mountain Coffee announced earlier today that it is moving the Keurig Inc. headquarters to Burlington.
After months of negotiations that included the passage of a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) agreement by Town Meeting last month, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, the parent company of Keurig, has decided to move its headquarters from Reading to Burlington. As reported by Patch, Town Meeting members voted 93 to 7 to approve the Tax Increment Financing agreement with the town that would save the company an estimated $3,256,352 over 15 years in an attempt to lure the company to Burlington during the annual May Town Meeting. Town leaders supported the TIF agreement for a variety of reasons. As reported, Keurig representatives have stated, and Town Administrator Robert Mercier confirmed to Town Meeting, the planned relocation of the company …

Where do you think Burlington should head in 2012?
The New Year traditionally allows us the chance to make personal resolutions, mostly concerning positive attributes; weight loss, saving money, correcting personality flaws, all towards becoming a better person. It is also an opportunity for people to express where they would like to see their communities – neighborhoods, religious congregations, work places – head in the coming year. Since the common denominator for readers of Burlington Patch is the town we live Patch wants to know: What should be the town's main priority in 2012? The answers are a community wish list that residents have expressed in the past; some ask for the status quo while others seek major changes in Burlington. If you have another priority, add it to the comment …

We put the call out, and Burlington residents are responding.
Hello Readers! We at Burlington Patch work hard to bring you the latest information during times of storms or breaking news events. One of the ways in which we bring the most complete coverage is by relying on the eyes and ears of readers who post updates from what they see from their own windows. With storms, that sort of on-the-ground information is normally the most accurate account of events out there. And even though we have reports of power outages from those actually affected, thanks to smart phones fellow readers are posting updates of storm activity on our Facebook page. I would like to invite all of you to post any updates concerning the storm; including power outages, closed roads, cancelled events and anything else by using …
