Rally Against Cancer - Burlington Relay for Life Kick-Off Event

Preparations for the the American Cancer Society's Burlington Relay for Life are starting with a kick-off party and everyone is invited to attend.

Cancer directly affects millions of Americans a year and indirectly affects us all. A local group, in partnership with the American Cancer Society, is inviting the community to join them in taking a stand against this disease. According to a release from the Relay For Life Burlington Committee, preparations for this year's Relay for Life are underway. Support Relay for Life With a Meal at Not Your Average Joe's

Not Your Average Joe's will donate 15-percent of any meal to the Burlington Relay on each Tuesday in June.

Burlington's Relay for Life may be over, but there are still ways to make a difference in the fight against cancer, and one of them is as easy as ordering a meal. Relay for Life has been chosen for the fundraiser for the month of June for Not Your Average Joe’s. It’s easy – all you have to do is eat at Not Your Average Joe’s on a Tuesday in the month of June (5, 12, 19, 26) and present the attached coupon. Not Your Average Joe’s will donate 15% of sales (excludes alcohol, tax and gratuity) to Relay For Life of Burlington.

The 2012 Burlington Relay for Life has raised $143,000 with more donations still coming in.

Can rain keep warriors again cancer home for the weekend? Absolutely not. Varsity Field at Burlington High School was alive with activity this weekend as members of the Burlington community came together despite the rain to raise money to fight cancer. The rain started early Saturday morning, but it wasn’t enough to keep away the many die-hard teams that participated in Saturday’s Relay For Life. There were 62 teams set up and ready do go at Opening Ceremonies. The evening started with a few speeches, the BurlingtonHigh School chorus sang the National Anthem, and then survivors, caregivers and teams took the track to walk from 6 pm until 6 am. Burlington Relay for Life is Today - Take a Stand Against Cancer

Registration for the Burlington Relay for Life starts at 3 p.m. and events kick-off at 6 p.m.

Take a stand against cancer and join the Burlington Relay for Life starting this afternoon at the Burlington High School athletics field. Relay are incredible community events where you can meet new people, participate in activities and help make a difference by supporting cancer research. After dark there is a Luminaria Ceremony where white bags with lit candles are set up around the track followed by a moving Fight Back Ceremony where everyone stands against this horrible disease in solidarity. The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life is an overnight event to raise funds for cancer research and to support patients of cancer and their families. The Burlington Relay for Life is inviting cancer survivors to participate in the Survivors' Lap.

Let Your Artist Out and Support Cancer Research

The Burlington Relay for Life Team Campers Against Cancer is holding a pottery painting fundraiser on April 22.

Help fight cancer and have fun painting pottery with a special Relay for Life fundraising event being put on by one of the relay's younger teams. Campers Against Cancer would like to invite you to Suzanne's Dance Connection, 279 Cambridge Street, on April 22 from 12 to 3 p.m. for a Magic Brush Pottery event. Come down to paint, have fun, and support Campers Against Cancer Team. 20 percent of the proceeds will be donated to benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Burlington. The cost of the event is the price of the pottery, which will range from $10 to $20 and a $3 firing fee to set your new piece of art.
