Burlington Police Promotes Two of its Own

Burlington Police Chief Michael Kent and Town Administrator John Petrin promoted two officers during Monday's Board of Selectmen meeting.

The hearing room at Town Hall was packed with members of the Burlington Police Department, their families, and members of the Fire Department during the Board of Selectmen meeting on Monday. The crowd was gathered to honor retired police Lt. Walter Bevis and to witness two accommodations for the work officers performed in the line of duty. There were also two promotions of members of the department at the recommendation of Police Chief Michael Kent. Town Administrator John Petrin promoted Thomas Browne to Lieutenant and Kevin Cooney to Sergeant. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to waive the 15-day waiting period that is standard for promotions and new hires. Check out our videos of the promotions above. From the Burlington Police …

One Taken to Hospital After Locust Street Crash

All roads are open after a car crash Tuesday morning, which resulted in one person being transported to the hospital, according to Burlington Police.

Burlington Police responded to the scene of a car accident on Locust Street Tuesday morning reportedly involving a car into a boulder.   No immediate injuries were reported as a result of the accident, according to a traffic alert on the Burlington Police Department's Twitter account, but police confirmed to Burlington Patch that one person was taken to the hospital.  The accident occurred around 10 a.m. Tuesday. No road closures were reported as of 11:15 a.m., according to Burlington Police.
