Thanks to a Wednesday win, the Burlington High School Girls Softball team is one win from being the the North Division 2 champs. The No. 3 Red Devils dominated play from start to finish in the North Division 2 semifinal game, scoring two runs in the opening inning and never looking back as they cruised to an 8-2 win over Amesbury on Wednesday in Lowell. We'll be live blogging the game championship game against Tewksbury on Saturday starting at 3:45 p.m., bringing you the latest updates from Martin Field in Lowell. The winner of that contest will be crowned North Division 2 champion and will earn a spot in the state bracket. Check back Saturday for our live blog coverage.

Patch readers and friends of Al Fay came out to the library last week for our inauguration ceremony.
Thank you to everyone who attended our presentation of a plaque for Burlington's Unofficial Mayor, as voted on by Patch readers, at the Burlington Public Library last week. Earlier this year we asked readers to nominate members of the community who make a difference and give their time and efforts to the town to be Burlington's Unofficial Mayor. We had nine nominees and after a couple weeks of voting readers chose to elect Albert Fay. The reason we held this race was to create a fun way to recognize those members of the community who have given their time and effort for the town.
