Patch Snap: Marshall Simonds' New Basketball Team

Welcome to another edition of Patch Snap, where we highlight a picture or pictures of around Burlington or of Burlington residents out and about. Today's Patch Snap picture comes from Kim Münch, who wrote: This is the first year that the Marshall Simonds Middle School has its very own basketball team - named "BOOM" it is comprised of 6,7 and 8th graders. Burlington BOOM is coached by Mark Melanson. The boys hold practices three times a week and compete into two different leagues, often playing four games each week, so its a big commitment for these athletes. Kudos to Mark for starting this program, it is long overdue. Maybe someone could do the same for the girls. Most other communities have a middle school sports program that is missing in Burlington. We rely upon the Baseball/Softaball, Pop Warner, Soccer, Hockey and other independent programs to carry the load, which often can be a lot more expensive.   more ›
