Rally Against Cancer - Burlington Relay for Life Kick-Off Event

Preparations for the the American Cancer Society's Burlington Relay for Life are starting with a kick-off party and everyone is invited to attend.

Cancer directly affects millions of Americans a year and indirectly affects us all. A local group, in partnership with the American Cancer Society, is inviting the community to join them in taking a stand against this disease. According to a release from the Relay For Life Burlington Committee, preparations for this year's Relay for Life are underway. The 2012 Burlington Relay for Life has raised $143,000 with more donations still coming in.

Can rain keep warriors again cancer home for the weekend? Absolutely not. Varsity Field at Burlington High School was alive with activity this weekend as members of the Burlington community came together despite the rain to raise money to fight cancer. The rain started early Saturday morning, but it wasn’t enough to keep away the many die-hard teams that participated in Saturday’s Relay For Life. There were 62 teams set up and ready do go at Opening Ceremonies. The evening started with a few speeches, the BurlingtonHigh School chorus sang the National Anthem, and then survivors, caregivers and teams took the track to walk from 6 pm until 6 am. Burlington Relay for Life is Today - Take a Stand Against Cancer

Registration for the Burlington Relay for Life starts at 3 p.m. and events kick-off at 6 p.m.

Take a stand against cancer and join the Burlington Relay for Life starting this afternoon at the Burlington High School athletics field. Relay are incredible community events where you can meet new people, participate in activities and help make a difference by supporting cancer research. After dark there is a Luminaria Ceremony where white bags with lit candles are set up around the track followed by a moving Fight Back Ceremony where everyone stands against this horrible disease in solidarity. The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life is an overnight event to raise funds for cancer research and to support patients of cancer and their families. Support Coaches vs. Cancer at Rahanis Park this Thursday

Coaches vs. Cancer will be collecting donations at the girls tennis match against Wakefield to benefit the American Cancer Society.

The following is a relase by the National Association of Basketball Coaches's program Coaches vs. Cancer: Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches that empowers athletic coaches, their teams, and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer.  The goal is to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living among students, faculty, school staff, fans, and the community at large, through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs. Comedy to Help Fight Cancer

Burlington's Relay for Life coordinators are presenting an evening of comedy featuring funny-man Jerry Caruso on May 4 at the American Legion.

There is nothing funny about cancer but next Friday laughs will be used to help combat the disease. Burlington Relay for Life coordinators Tiffany Freeman and Cheryl Shafman are hosting an evening of comedy to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. The event will feature Boston-based comedian Jerry Caruso, who has been making audiences laugh since 1993 with his "unique mix of celebrity impressions, song parodies and stand-up comedy." Visit his website for more information. The event will be held at the Burlington American Legion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 4. The cost of entry is $20 and free hors d'oeuvres. The organizers of Burlington's Relay for Life would like to thank members of the community and businesses who supported the kick-off celebration this week.

The Planning Committee for The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Burlington would like to thank everyone for helping to make their Kickoff Celebration a huge success. With the help of the local businesses, the community, past relayers, new relayers, survivors and those who were just curious about Relay For Life, we were able to “kick off” the planning of our yearly event that will take place on June 2-3 at the Burlington High School Track. Thank you to the Burlington Marriott for donating the space and audio/visual equipment for the evening. Reminder: Relay for Life Kick-Off Celebration Tonight

The Burlington Relay for Life is hosting a kick-off celebration at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at the Clubhouse at the Burlington Marriott.

Take a stand against cancer by getting involved in the Burlington Relay for Life, kicking off with a special celebration tonight. The disease directly affects millions of Americans a year and indirectly affects us all. Once again local fighters of cancer, in partnership with the American Cancer Society, is inviting the community to join them in an overnight relay to raise funds to find a cure and support those afflicted by cancer.
