Town Employees Walking for Girl with Rare Bone Cancer

Employees at Town Hall will be walking in support of Eve, the three-year-old granddaughter of a colleague who has Erwin's Sarcoma.

Burlington Town Hall employees will be hitting the Town Commons next Monday for a 5K walk fundriaser walk in honor of the granddaughter of a colleague battling a serious disease. The girl, Eve, is 3 years old and has been diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. She is current undergoing chemotherapy as part of her treatment. To help raise money Town Hall employees are holding a raffle for gift baskets. Tickets can be purchased in the Tax Collector's office at Town Hall and during the walk. The walk will be held Monday, June 18, starting at 4:30 p.m. Come down and support the walkers and purchase a raffle ticket and help support this worthy cause.

MSMS Teen LIGHT Draws Crowd for Walkathon

Teen LIGHT (Leaders Inspired to Give Hope to Teens), a student-based group at Marshall Simonds Middle School, is a ground-breaking community service program that develops young leaders and encourages students to transform the lives of struggling teens.

Hundreds of eighth grade students at Marshall Simonds Middle School held their third annual 5K walk-a-thon on June 4. The walk began on the Burlington common and was followed with activities and performances by student groups.  Proceeds from this year's walk will be used to fund various educational events with the goal of ending bullying and promoting student connection, teamwork, and peer sensitivity.
