Monday Essentials: Spooky Stories and Halloween Fun at the Library

Five things to know about the week ahead.

Welcome to Monday Essentials, our weekly column taking a look at the week ahead. Here are five things to know about this week:

1) Mostly sunny, warmer at week's end 

Looks like we can expect mostly clear skies this week though it will start off a bit cool. According to the National Weather Service we are in for mostly sunny skies except for a slight chance of showers Wednesday morning. Temperatures will be in the high 50s on Monday and then dip down to around 50 on Tuesday and Wednesday. It will get warmer at the end of the week with temps in the mid 60s on Friday. 

2) Public meetings 

The Board of Selectmen is meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday in the main hearing room at Town Hall. There will also be a joint meeting of the Board of Selectmen and the School Committee at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the main hearing room at Town Hall to discuss long-term capital debt planning. 3) Blood drive 

There will be a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at SAP American Inc. at 15 Wayside Road (Across from Wayside plaza) on Tuesday. Help give the gift of life with a donation. Click here for more information

4) Spooky stories 

The Burlington Public Library is holding two Halloween story sessions this week. The first is on Monday at 3:45 p.m. for children in grades K-3 and includes a chance to decorate Halloween candy bags. Register online to participate. The second is on Wednesday at 11 a.m. for toddlers and preschool students. Come in a costume to add to the fun and enjoy a story, songs, rhymes, fun, and treats. 

5) Music benefit 

There will be a Gala Benefit Concert and Silent Auction featuring the BHS Chorus and The New England Tenors on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Fogelberg Performing Arts Center in Burlington High School.
