Monday Essentials: Safety Town at the Burlington Mall

Five things to know about this upcoming week.

Welcome to Monday Essentials, our weekly column taking a look at the week ahead. Here are five things to know about this week:

1) Hot Mid-week 

Looks like a week free of rain but it will get hot. According to theNational Weather Service we can expect mostly sunny skies this week with temperatures in the mid-80s at the beginning and end. However, from Tuesday to Thursday we could see temperatures rising to the low 90s. 

2) Safety Town 

Safety Town is a child-sized town at the Burlington Mall, complete with buildings, cross walks, street signs and traffic signals, where local-area children will be taught pedestrian, traffic and bus safety in a supervised environment by Burlington Police officers. Safety Town will be open starting at 9 a.m. Monday morning. 

3) Managing concerns on falls 

Lahey Clinic will be holding a program called "A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls" on August 22 from 10 a.m. to noon. This free program is designed to manage falls and increase activity levels in older adults.  the class meets for two hours a week for eight weeks. 4) I scream, you scream, we all scream for... 

The Burlington Public Library will be holding an Ice Cream Social on Tuesday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Various flavors and toppings will be available. This is a drop-in event so come down to the library and bring your appetite. 

5) Wine tasting 

Busa Wine & Spirits will be holding a wine tasting featuring selections of the New Zealand based Oyster Bay winery on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m.
