Monday Essentials: Holiday Closings and Thanksgiving Football

Five things to know about the week ahead.

1) Cold but warmer mid-week

Looks like it will be a mostly winterly week ahead with a small respite mid-week. According to the National Weather Service we can expect temperatures in the low 30s on Monday followed by temps in the low 40s on Tuesday and temps in the low 50s on a rainy Wednesday. On Thanksgiving the temperature will drop back to the low 30s and stay in that range for the rest of the week.

2) Holiday closings

Burlington town offices will be closing at 3 p.m. on Wednesday and will be closed on Thursday and Friday and state offices and federal offices will be closed on Thursday in observation of Thanksgiving. Burlington schools will have a half-day on Wednesday and be closed on Thursday and Friday for the holiday.

3) Thanksgiving Football

The annual Thanksgiving football game between Burlington and Lexington High Schools will start at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday. Burlington is hosting the game this year at Varsity Field at Burlington High School, 123 Cambridge Street.

4) Public meetings

The Recreation Commission is meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday in the School Committee meeting room at the high school. The Board of Health is meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the main hearing room at Town Hall for a special hearing of a housing code violation followed by a normal meeting at 7 p.m. Click here for a list of all meetings this week.

5) Foam sword fun
