Monday Essentials: Halloween Treat Decoration, Public Speaking Program

Five things to know about the week ahead.

Welcome to Monday Essentials, our weekly column taking a look at the week ahead. Here are five things to know about this week:

1) This week's weather 

Looks like a bit of a mixed bag this week. According to the National Weather Service we will begin the week with sunny skies and a high near 50 degrees. Rain is possible Tuesday and Wednesday but it will also be warmer with highs in the low 60s on Tuesday and mid 50s on Wednesday. The week will end with sunny skies but temps back around 50 degrees.

2) Public meetings 

The Board of Health is meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The School Committee is meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Conservation Commission is meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Click here for for all meetings and their locations.

3) Halloween food 

The Burlington Public Library is holding a "Halloween Food Art" event for students in grades 6 to 12 at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Stop by the library and decorate spooky cupcakes with frosting, sprinkles and candy. 

4) Toastmasters 

The Burlington Public Library is holding a meeting of the International Toastmasters on Thursday from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Toastmasters International which is dedicated to helping members improve their communication and leadership skills. The Last Word Toastmasters Club invites guests to a fun-filled, stress-free, supportive group. There is no cost to attend a meeting. No signup or registration is necessary. 

5) Pumpkin cookie decorating 

Panera Bread is holding a a Pumpkin cookie decorating party at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Decorate a freshly-baked Pumpkin cookie with your family or friends.
