Monday Essentials: Discussion on Burlington Medical Marijuana Policy, Blood Drive

Five things to know about the week ahead.

Welcome to Monday Essentials, our weekly column taking a look at the week ahead. Here are five things to know about this week:

1) Cooler temperatures ahead 

Looks like we can't deny it, winter is coming. According to the National Weather Service we can expect cloudy skies on Veterans Day with a high near 49 degrees. It will then get sunnier late in the week but the temperatures will dip into the high 30s mid-week before rising to around 51 on Friday. Overnight temperatures this week will be in the mid to high 20s. 

2) Public meetings 

The Board of Health is meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the main hearing room at Town Hall. The Conservation Commission is meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the main hearing room at Town Hall. 

3) Marijuana policy discussion 

The Burlington Planning Board is holding a special meeting, the first in a series of discussion, on what policies Burlington should enact now that medical marijuana is legal in Massachusetts. The meeting is Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Murray-Kelly Room in the Human Services Building. The Planning Board is looking to get input from both residents and members of the business community. 4) Community blood drive 

The American Red Cross and the Burlington American Legion is holding a blood drive from 1:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the American Legion. Gift the gift of life by donating blood. 

5) Do-It-Yourself Holiday ideas 

Get excited for the Holidays with a special Holiday wreath project created by Erin Souder of House of Earnest. Join them at the West Elm Wayside location on Thursday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. All ages are welcome.
