Monday Essential: Children Invited to Submit Pictures for Library Time Capsule

Five things to know about the week ahead.

Welcome to Monday Essentials, our weekly column taking a look at the week ahead. Here are five things to know about this week:

1) Rain early this week, sunny later

Looks like we'll start the week with some cloudy weather but things will clear up as we approach the weekend. According to the National Weather Service we can expect a chance of showers and thunderstorms from Monday night through Tuesday night. The rest of the week looks mostly sunny with high temperatures around 80 degrees.

2) Yoga for kids

The Burlington Public Library is holding two Yoga programs for children on Monday. The first is at 11 a.m. and is for children ages 2 to 5. The second is at 1 p.m. and is for children in grades K to 5. Both programs will be led by Christyn Schroeder and will be age appropriate and entertaining for youngsters.

3) Time capsule

The Burlington Public Library will be placing a time capsule is the ground to be opened sometime in the future. Students entering grades 2-8 are invited to come to the library to write letters and draw pictures to place inside the capsule. Students are also invited to bring small items from home to place inside to capsule for the future people of Burlington to enjoy. They will then all go outside to bury the capsule on the library's grounds. The program will take place on Friday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

4) Bow hunting

Bow hunting for deer in the Landlocked Forest has been approved by the Board of Selectmen but the details on the rules have yet to be ironed out. Join the discussion this Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the Town Hall Annex basement meeting room when the Board of Selectmen subcommittee on the subject, led by Selectman Daniel Grattan, meets to continue the dialogue.

5) Vaccinations

Burlington Public Schools have requirements for student vaccinations/immunizations before the start of the school year. Read about the requirements and about vaccinations in general
