Buy a Pie and Support the Burlington Food Pantry

Cub Scout Troop 555 will be collecting pies and monetary donations outside of Shaws this Saturday to benefit the Burlington Food Pantry.

This Saturday purchase a pie or make a donation to help every family in Burlington have a happy Thanksgiving.

Cub Scout Pack 555 will be out this Saturday at , 180 Cambridge St., from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to collect pies and cash donations.  The pies and donations will be delivered that afternoon to the where complete Thanksgiving meals are being prepared for those in need.

Pack 555 consists of 1st-5th grade boys from and Elementary Schools of Burlington.  This event involves the Scouts soliciting Shaws' customers to either donate a Fresh Fruit Pie or money that in turn is given to the Burlington food pantry, People Helping People.  Each year they put together all the ingredients of a full Thanksgiving Dinner for needy local families.  Cub Scout Pack 555 is proud to participate in their event by providing the deserts.

"Last year, we collected 216 Pies and $560," said Richard Walzer, Assistant Cubmaster of Pack 555. "We're hoping to meet or beat that total this year. Mr. Steve Duran, of Shaw's, has been a great supporter of this event for many many years and we would not be successful in our efforts without his support and the support of the staff - and bakers - of Shaw's."
