BHS Freshman Organizes Luncheon, Raises Over $1K for Food Pantry

With an overwhelming crowd of invited supporters  an elegant mother – daughter luncheon benefit was hosted by Burlington High School freshman Kristina Ayanian on Sunday, Oct. 2 at Boston’s historic waterfront Commandant’s House with the total proceeds to benefit the and Feeding America Organization. Ayanian's efforts helped raise over $1,000 for the cause.

Ayanian volunteers at the Burlington Food Pantry, sorting and arranging food donations. She quickly found there’s a growing demand for food in her community. Ayanian decided to help by bring awareness of hunger in the US and organized a fund raising event with proceeds to benefit the pantry.

“Maybe this is something small,“ Kristina said in her speech, “and it’s not going to end the hunger or get all the food the food pantry needs, but as Mother Teresa said 'If you cannot feed a hundred people, than just feed one.' I believe small things can make a big difference."

Ayanian expressed her gratitude to guests and generous donors,  Bon Appétit Caterers, Ipswich Clam Bake , Capers Catering, FiresideCatering, East Meets West Catering, Antoine’s pastry shop and Sweet Tooth Pastry Shop , who contributed to the luncheon, donors of raffle prizes   and her piano teacher, pianist , Marina Margarian  for performing. All participants rose above their limits to create awareness and support for this worthy cause.
