Red Devils Winding Down Regular Season Slate

Two weeks remain for Burlington teams as the postseason rapidly approaches.

Crunch time is officially arriving for Burlington's winter sports teams.

Just two weeks remain in the regular season, with several teams hoping to finish strong before heading to the postseason.

On Monday, the basketball teams hope to improve their playoff seedings with tilts against Wakefield. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. with the first place Lady Red Devils on the road and the boys team playing at home.

There's not much of a break for the basketball teams, as they get right back to work on Tuesday. The girls team hosts Watertown while the boys team travels to face the same opponent. Games are slated for a 7 p.m. tip off.

A pair of hockey games are on the docket for Wednesday, including a major test for the boys team.

Sitting at 6-4-5 overall and 5-4-5 in Middlesex League play, the boys hockey team hosts Division 2 powerhouse Wilmington, which sits all alone in first place in the Freedom Division. The Wildcats toppled Burlington earlier in the year, and the Red Devils need to turn the tables in order to improve their postseason resume.

The teams take the ice at 8 p.m. while the girls hockey team skates against the Lady Wildcats at 6:15 p.m. on their home ice.

No teams play on Thursday, but on Friday both Wilmington basketball teams will be in Burlington.

The Wildcat boys team will technically be the home team, even though the game takes place on the Red Devils' home court. Wilmington's gymnasium is about to be demolished as they build a new high school, forcing the game to be switched to Burlington at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Red Devils also host Wilmington, taking the court at 7 p.m.
