Burlington Pop Warner Football Kicked Offs this Weekend

There will be an opening ceremony at 5 p.m. followed by games through the rest of the weekend at Varsity Field.

Are you ready for some Burlington football?

This season marks the 50th Anniversary for Burlington Pop Warner and the home opener will be Saturday night, Sept. 22 and Sunday Sept. 23 at Varsity Field at Burlington High School.

Burlington Pop Warner will be hosting several special guests who speak during the opening ceremonies starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

There will also be lots of raffles throughout the weekend.

"We are expecting to see all parent/players/cheerleaders and staff at 5 p.m. on Saturday to help us kick off this very special season for our kids and also to support our program," a release from Burlington Pop Warner states. "All football players (on and off field) should wear the red home game shirts."

Sports Authority will be sponsoring the event. Stop by their tent and enter to win raffle prizes that will be announced over the two-day home opener.

Raffle prizes include:

  • "The Comcast SportsNet Unique Experience" - One lucky winner and a guest will be invited to tour the Comcast SportsNet studios in Burlington, MA and have a "meet and greet" with former New England Patriots Ty Law and Troy Brown as they get set to call their pre-game (or post-game) analysis of a New England Patriots game. You can even watch the taping live from Comcast SportsNet.
  • "New England Patriots Gift Basket" - One lucky winner will win their choice of two New England Patriots Gift Baskets with either a Matt Light or Aaron Hernandez autographed football and stuffed with lots of New England Patriots giveaways!
  • "Boston Red Sox Gift Basket" - One lucky winner will win a Red Sox Gift Basket featuring a framed, signed picture of Red Sox Pitcher Clay Buchholz and stuffed with lots of Boston Red Sox giveaways!

There will also be raffling off a dinner for two at L'Andana - one of the area's fine restaurants as well as a $100 American Express Gift Card.

12:30 a.m. - E White Burlington vs. E Saugus
