UPDATED: Undercooked Chicken Again Served at a SPS School

Students at Noyes Elementary received the food.

UPDATED: 6:07 P.M

Parent reports of students at Noyes Elementary School being served undercooked chicken surfaced mid-afternoon on Monday, and a release by Principal Annette Doyle confirmed the report.

According to the release, fourth-grade students were served undercooked popcorn chicken "unintentionally."

"The kitchen staff recognized that the chicken was undercooked and took immediate action to remove the chicken from serving line," Doyle said in the release.

"We will follow all protocols and procedures and take appropriate action," Superintendent Anne Wilson said in an email to Sudbury Patch. "Parents of children who may have been impacted were contacted directly by Mrs. Doyle."

"I was informed of the error and initiated an investigation. Sudbury Board of Health and the Whitson's District Manager have been notified of the incident," Doyle said in the release. "In addition, I have been in close consultation with the Director of Business and Finance and the Superintendent.

"This afternoon, Ms. Bradford and I met with the children who may have been impacted and I contacted their parents.

"I believe we have been in contact with all families potentially impacted; however, the following is important information related to undercooked chicken:

  • Bacteria in undercooked chicken incubates in 6 hours to five days
  • Your child should be monitored for stomach and/or intestinal problems for the five days.
  • If your child should develop stomach and/or intestinal problems, contact your primary care doctor.

"If you have questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Bradford or me."

This is the second time in a year undercooked chicken has been served to SPS students.

None of those students reported getting sick.

In a related point about mismanagement, many of us have been receiving erroneous bills from the cafeteria services demanding payment for lunches bought as far back as three years ago. When pressed, they generally can't come up with the documentation. Not to mention there are those of us who never allow their kids to buy lunch and still get charged. Very shady.

Dont look now folks, but I heard there was some paper towel dispensers that where not filled in one of the schools last week....do you know how much bacteria can be spread when children cant properly wash their hands....THE HORROR.....this must be immediately forwarded to Mr Fucci for an exhaustive 11 part series titles "paper towel-gate.....what did Anne Wilson Know, and when did she know it"

This is a completely nasty and childish post.....I for one will not rest until Mrs. Doyle gets the recognition she deserves as a hard working educator who provides a first class atmosphere for learning for ALL students......and seeing as my outlook on the world is alot more upbeat and positive then yours....I assume i will win this battle....undercooked chicken or not!!!

"Noyes Parent" Last year you had similar things to say about raw chicken being served. Fair enough. But when the same situation happens again there you are with the same things you said last year. When the same issues happen over and over again its not necessary the incident that's concerning its the lack of learning from the last one that is. There is about a 50% lack of confidence in our town leadership. From Selectmen to School board its one problem after another. Does this not concern you? Unless of course you are partisan in these incidents and have something to gain that is.
