Voter Turnout Steady; Scenes From the Polls

Voters are turning out at Burlington High for today's Burlington Town Election.

A steady number of voters have been coming down to the polls for Burlington's Town Election at the today and as of this afternoon the number of voters is on track to be higher than the last couple of years, Town Clerk Amy Warfield told Patch.

As of 3 p.m. this afternoon a total of 2,185 residents had cast ballots. Last year the total vote count was 2,405 votes. Burlington has roughly 15,000 registered voters.

The polls are open until 8 p.m. and Warfield said she expects the steady turnout to continue through the evening.

"It hasn't been a bad turnout," Warfield said. "It's been consistent. Not packed, but consistent. We're on track to break 3,000 and we have not done that in the past two or three town elections."

Warfield added that about 390 absentee ballots were also requested.

If you haven't voted yet you have until 8 p.m. to cast a ballot. The results will be released tonight and Patch will be reporting. Check back tonight to find the results as they become available.
