Get Involved in Town Politics and Make a Difference

Papers are available for Open Town Offices and Town Meeting positions for the April 12 town election.

Are you interested in running for a town office or to be a Town Meeting Member? For those interested in public service, papers are now available at the Burlington Town Clerk's Office in for Town Offices for the April 12 Town Election. 

There are a number of open seats for Town Wide offices as well as Town Meeting Positions.

Below is a list of the open Town Office seats and the term limits:

    • Moderator 1 Open Seat (1 Year)
    • Selectmen, 1 Open Seat (3 Years)
    • Assessor 1 Open Seat (3 Years)
    • School Committee 2 Open Seats (3 Years)
    • Library Trustees, 2 Open Seats (3 Years)
    • Planning Board, 1 Open Seat (5 Years)
    • Board of Health, 1 Open Seat (3 Years)
    • Housing Authority, 1 Open Seat (5 Years)
    • Recreation Commission, 1 Open Seat (3 Years)
    • Recreation Commission, 1 Open Seat (1 Year)
    • Shawsheen Tech School Committee, 1 Open Seat (3 Years)
    Town Meeting Open Seats 
    • Precinct One, 6 Open Seats (3 Years)
    • Precinct Two, 6 Open Seats (3 Years)
    • Precinct Two, 1 Open Seat (1 Year)
    • Precinct Three, 6 Open Seats (3 Years)
    • Precinct Three, 1 Open Seat (1 Year)

    "If you are interested in getting involved in Burlington Town government now is your opportunity," Burlington Town Clerk Amy Warfield said. "You will need to come in to the Clerk’s office and start the process for getting your name on the ballot for the next Annual Town Election, which will be held on April 12."

    Positions for town-wide office require you get least 50 signatures of registered Burlington voters, for Town Meeting Members you will need at least 10 signatures, Warfield said.  

    You can come in anytime until Thursday, Feb. 20 and pick up a Candidate Packet. The deadline to file papers is Monday, Feb. 24.
