Woman Arrested for Shoplifting, Over $4K in Jewelry Stolen from Home

Following are excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. Note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, January 16- 

  • At 9:26 a.m. there was a report of a truck hitting the McDonald's building with minor damage. 
  • At 10:09 a.m. a caller at the Marriott Hotel reported that a livery driver placed a taxi cab sign in his window and was trying to get fares. 
  • At 10:26 a.m. a Burlington High student reported her car was keyed while  parked in the student lot. 
  • At 12:10 p.m. a caller from Fine Line Glass reported approximately 90 pounds of aluminum frame was taken overnight. 
  • At 6:45 p.m. police arrested Elia Rivera, 39, of 130 Mount Washington St., Apartment 1, Lowell, on a charge of larceny over $250 and on four warrants from other agencies. Arrest made after Macy's reported detaining a female who attempted to steal nine handbags. 
  • At 10:51 p.m. police issued a summons to a Lowell man on a charge of shoplifting $100+ by concealing merchandise. 
Friday, January 17- 
  • At 1:43 a.m. police arrested two Billerica records on warrants from other agencies. 
  • At 1:53 a.m. a Winn Street caller reported a man shining a laser into passing vehicles. The man was gone when police arrived. 
  • At 1:26 p.m. a Makechnie Road caller reported that some jewelry is missing and may have been taken sometime since last June. $4,200 in jewelry stolen. 
  • At 1:41 p.m. a manager of Sabatians Cafe reported that $2,100 in cash stolen from an office safe. An employee suspected of the theft had been terminated. 
  • At 5:51 p.m. a Nordstrom caller reported that fraudulent returns led to suspects receiving a gift card for just under $500. 
  • At 9:33 p.m. police issued a summons to a Lexington man on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
