Two Arrested for Credit Card Fraud, Scam Phone Call from 'IRS Agent' Reported

Burlington Police Department logs for November 13 to 14.

Following are excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. Note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, November 13-

  • At 9:06 a.m. a Mill Street caller reported that her unlocked vehicle was broken into overnight and loose change was stolen. 
  • At 10:04 a.m. police assisted a woman at Market Basket who locked her two-month-old son in her vehicle. 
  • At 2:04 p.m. a caller from Burger King reported that a vehicle struck the awning of the drive thru causing minor denting. 
  • At 2:31 p.m. there was a report that a woman's purse was taken from a stroller when she was at the food court at the Burlington Mall. 
  • At 5:01 p.m. an employee at the Burlington Gulf gas station at 181 Cambridge Street reported an intoxicated male was trying to fight employees. There was a disagreement over a bill for car repair. The issue was resolved and the customer was driven home by his wife. 
  • At 7:01 p.m. a caller from the Gap Store reported that an employee was being detained for stealing approximately $500 in merchandise. Store to handle. 
  • At 7:29 p.m. a caller reported that at about 2 p.m. that day he was backing out of a parking spot in the student lot at Burlington High School and ran over a female's foot. Police called the female who said she went to the emergency room and would be seeing an orthopedic doctor the next day. Police advised her the incident had been logged. 
Thursday, November 14-
  • At 7:17 a.m. a student at Burlington High reported the past theft of money from the girl's locker room. 
  • At 9:12 a.m. an employee of the Chateau Restaurant reported witnessing a delivery truck strike a light pole and fleeing the area. There was damage to the pole from the incident. The accident happened in August. 
  • At 3:37 p.m. police arrested two people after Nordstrom loss prevention reported fraudulent use of a credit card in progress. Police arrested Daijie Chen, 34, of 656 53rd Street, Apartment 3, Brooklyn, NY, on charges of possessing a counterfeit credit card, credit card fraud over $250 (6 counts), uttering false documents (6 counts) and forgery of a document (6 counts). Police also arrested Xia Chen, 26, of 656 53rd Street, Apartment 3, Brooklyn, NY, on charges of possessing a counterfeit credit card, credit card fraud over $250 (3 counts), uttering false documents (3 counts) and forgery of a document (3 counts). 
  • At 3:21 p.m. a Hill Circle caller reported he received a phone call from the number "911" and was told by the caller that he needed to contact a "David Cooper" over a warrant. Cooper presented himself as an IRS agent and said the man needed to wire $2459.48 to clear up the warrant. Police advised the man that this was a fraud. 
  • At 5:27 p.m. a Gedick Road resident reported someone has stolen packages from her property.
