Burlington police Thursday afternoon reported "major" traffic delays on the Middlesex Turnpike.

The heaviest congestion was between Interstate 95 and the Lexington border.

Police said a combination of a gas leak, construction, and nice weather was to blame. More vehicles were out than usual as temperatures hit 50 degrees.

Different day, same story! Nothing ever changes on Middlesex TPK. No painted lane marking at ol' Burlington dodge site and you need to dedicate an entire lunch break if you travel from mall rd to market basket mall. Fo r get exiting BBB/ trader Joe's on a Sat. All this and more development off 3rd Ave soon! YEAH.

You can thank the 34 town meeting members that voted against widening this section of the road at no cost to the town.

Where was the gas leak and construction? Details would be helpful, rather having someone blame the TM's for not accepting another business locating in a place that would create more traffic!
