Student Reports Suspicious Male at Bus Stop, Resident Reports Issue with Solicitors

Burlington Police Department logs for December 11 to 12.

Following are excerpts from the Burlington Police Department log. Note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, December 11- 

  • At 9:04 a.m. a caller reported that her 11-year-old daughter told her that she had seen a white male in a sliver vehicle had been watching kids at the bus stop at the corner of Eugene Road and Cormier Road the past two days. Police spoke to the child who said she felt the man was watching them and that he drove around and circled around them as they walked down Eugene Road. Subject described as a white male in his 20s in a light silver 4-door vehicle. Police checked the bus stop the next day but the vehicle was not seen. 
  • At 1:46 p.m. a Fernglade Road caller reported solicitors were asking for a copy of their electric bill and refusing to leave. Police spoke to two solicitors for NSTAR who did register with the town who said they only enter a home if invited. 
  • At 3:53 p.m. a caller at Marshalls reported someone broke into her vehicle and stole a bag container ladies hosiery valued at $9.99 and a sweater valued at $29.99. 
  • At 6:25 p.m. an evening school teacher at requested police to meet a bus returning from a field trip at Burlington High School because a student had been drinking. Police helped identify the offending student was released to parents. School will handle disciplinary action. 
  •  At 9:43 p.m. a caller reported that on Friday, Nov. 29 while she was working at Hollister someone entered her vehicle sometime between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and stole diamond earrings valued between $600 and $700. 
Thursday, December 12-
  • At 10:15 a.m. a Keans Road caller reported her motor vehicle was broken into. 
  • At 1:04 p.m. a caller from P&M Locksmith in Woburn reported getting an angry call from a customer in Burlington. The caller said the business never sent a locksmith to that customer's residence. After further investigation police found a fraudulent web site representing that it was for P&M but was not and had a different phone number, which came back as from Watertown. Watertown Police said that residence has been connected to similar complaints and the issue is under investigation. 
  • At 4:13 p.m. a Lord & Taylor employee reported chasing a shoplifter on foot outside the store. Suspect reported as a Hispanic male, about 5 feet and 10 inches tall, wearing a black jacket and tan pants. 
  • At 4:28 p.m. an employee at Hollister reported being threatened by a shopper. The shopper attempted to enter the changing room with approximately 20 items and when confronted starting yelling. Described as a black female in her mid 20s. 
  • At 8:29 p.m. police placed a Belchertown woman into protective custody after a Marriott caller reported an intoxicated female in the area of the parking lot.
